FROM OUR CHAIRMAN
Welcome to the website of the Sevenoaks Conservative Association – home of the eponymous oak trees and constituency, covering the towns of Sevenoaks and Swanley in Kent.
Our Association is well established and active in the Sevenoaks District wards of:
Ash and New Ash Green | Brasted | Chevening and Sundridge | Dunton Green and Riverhead | Eynsford | Halstead, Knockholt and Badgers Mount | Farningham, Horton Kirby and South Darenth | Kemsing | Otford and Shoreham | Fawkham and West Kingsdown | Westerham and Crockham Hill | Crockenhill and Well Hill | Hextable | Swanley Christchurch and Swanley Village | Swanley St Mary’s | Swanley White Oak | Seal and Weald | Sevenoaks Kippington | Sevenoaks Town and St John’s | Sevenoaks Eastern | Sevenoaks Northern.
People join Sevenoaks Conservatives for different reasons and we are open to all. If you have an interest in national issues, a wish to engage with members and our MP, or perhaps you’d like to stand as a local Councillor or discuss policy ideas at meetings of the local Conservative Policy Forum – all are welcome and details can be found here.
Many members simply wish to enjoy our social events such as summer garden parties, Christmas get-togethers and our Supper Club evenings, and dinners with eminent politicians and speakers. Currently limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, our events can be found here.
Our Member of Parliament is Laura Trott. Laura was elected following the retirement of Sir Michael Fallon who held the Sevenoaks seat for 23 years and was Secretary of State for Defence between 2014 and 2017.
Elected in 2019, Laura has launched herself into her new role despite the Covid-19 pandemic. With her knowledge of Westminster and her can-do spirit, Laura is working hard to support many of her constituents with empathy and sense of purpose. A link to her website is here.
With a network of 17 branches covering 20 wards, we are fortunate in having award winning councils and councillors representing and supporting local residents, businesses and communities – Sevenoaks District, Sevenoaks Town and Kent County Council.
Our Councillors are very active and keen to engage with local residents to provide help and support. A list of our Councillors can be found here.
Our branches are invaluable, providing not just membership support, fundraising and commitment during election periods, but a considerable source of localised political and social knowledge. You can join us here.
Our Association is run by an Executive Council led by a Management Team which is elected by Association members at the Annual General Meeting.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. I hope I will have the pleasure to welcome you as a new member very soon.
