Philip McGarvey - Farningham, Horton Kirby & South Darenth

Philip McGarvey: a Sevenoaks District Councillor for Farningham, Horton Kirby & South Darenth since 2003, becoming Chairman of Sevenoaks District Council 2015/16.
I have been serving on SDC’s Planning Committee (Development Control) and various Finance roles, currently (2019) Chairman of Audit.

Having been treasurer to our local history society and a photographic club, I now find time to be a Church Administrator (part-time) and serve on the PCC and PC in Farningham (Parochial Church Council and Parish Council).

I was Chairman of Farningham Parish Council 2011 to 2017 and I have been a Parish Councillor since 2003 (having also served for 4 years 1987/91), and am still Secretary to Sevenoaks Area KALC (Kent Association of Local Councils). I do attend our villages’ monthly Parish Council meetings, and that is usually the best place to catch me.

Within church I am also Deanery Synod Treasurer, and serve on Diocesan Synod.

I do find some spare time to play guitar (sometimes even in tune, and I have been a church worship leader in Eynsford and elsewhere); collect foreign coins; write thousands of Limericks, and sort out IT problems for people.
