Faye Parkin - Fawkham & West Kingsdown

Since first being elected in 2003 Faye has done so much to represent the views and concerns of the communities.

She serves as a Member of Sevenoaks District Council, Fawkham Parish Council Chairman and Governor of Fawkham C of E Primary School, with planning, housing, anti-social behaviour  and  traffic calming.  Faye's philosophy has always been not to take “NO” for an answer but to work hard with others to achieve everything that can be achieved for the safety and wellbeing of residents.

Within Sevenoaks District Council she has been given the wider remit of Deputy Cabinet Member for Housing Health and Leisure.  A demanding role, part of which carries the responsibility to support the District Council’s commitment to keeping residents actively engaged in community life and also to look at how SDC are able to provide the right type of homes for an ageing population.

In her role as a Deputy Cabinet Member and Trustee on Rural Age Concern  Darent Valley, Faye has been working hard on the ‘Dementia Friendly’ initiative and is currently very involved in a project to encourage businesses in Fawkham and West Kingsdown to become Dementia Friendly.   She has worked as a Carer, and the needs of the vulnerable older person in the changing world is something Faye has always felt passionate about.  So to further support SDC’s health agenda she is also a member of Licensing Committee, The Health Liaison Board, Housing Health & Leisure Advisory Committee, Vice Chair, and an active member of the Access Group that flies the flag for those with a disability.

As a long standing member of the Development Control Committee Faye has fought hard to prevent inappropriate development, especially in the Green Belt and as a  member of the Policy and Performance Advisory Committee her role is to assist with Policy Initiation and Development.

Faye thoroughly enjoys the work she does and being an active member of the community to improve resident’s quality of life in the village, especially with road safety.  She has helped many residents with problems wide and varied and looks forward to continuing to so so in the future.
