Anna Firth

Association Chairman
District Councillor - Brasted, Chevening, Sundridge & Ide Hill

Anna Firth was elected Deputy Chair Political and Campaigning at the 2018 AGM and is currently acting Chairman of the Association.

Anna was first elected to the District Council to represent Brasted, Chevening & Sundridge in May 2011. She lives in Halstead with her husband, three children and an assortment of family pets, including ex battery hens!

She grew up in Essex, the daughter of an engineer and a school teacher. Her mother took on additional work as a cleaner to fund Anna and her brother through University, and these values of working hard, aiming high and ‘giving back’ have been the values that have guided Anna ever since.

After graduating with a law degree from Durham University, Anna worked briefly as an investment banker. However she decided advocacy was her true vocation and after further study she qualified as a barrister and specialised in representing people from all walks of life who had suffered very serious medical accidents.

After Anna's son was born, she decided to become a full time Mum, and to use her financial and legal expertise to ‘give back’ to her own and the wider Community. In 2011 she was elected to represent Brasted, Sundridge and Chevening on Sevenoaks District Council and at the same time became a Governor at Tonbridge Grammar School for Girls.

Anna's legal training and financial experience has stood her in good stead to help local people. She is very aware of the challenges facing those on low and fixed incomes.

She has successfully campaigned for children, the family, and those disadvantaged in life as well as leading the charge in protecting local green open spaces.

Using her legal experience, Anna gives pro-bono support to individuals and small businesses, who cannot afford access to the law,  and who are threatened with homelessness and vexatious legal proceedings,. Anna is particularly proud of her work and involvement with the flagship HERO project which gives support on education, housing and employment to people who need support to get themselves back on their feet or on the road to success.
