Michael Fallon MP

Michael visited students and teachers at Knole Academy in Sevenoaks to talk about the exciting future for the new school which secured £17.5m of funding at the end of 2010.

Plans are being drawn up for the extensive redevelopment of the school’s facilities which are currently split between Bradbourne Vale and Seal Hollow Road.  Building work is due to start in December this year and should be completed by summer 2013

Michael said: “It’s a very exciting time for both Knole Academy and Sevenoaks as a whole.  Many of the school buildings are more than 60 years old and the new development will give students and teachers the state-of-the-art learning environment that they deserve.

“I always enjoy meeting Knole students – young minds come with fresh perspectives.  When I spoke to students who visited Parliament a few weeks ago, they had some great insights into current political issues and I shall be keen to hear their views again.”

Michael Fallon at IdealMichael Fallon MP has welcomed the opening of a state of the art recycling business in Swanley that has brought 60 new jobs to the area.

Speaking after the official opening of the plant set up by the Ideal Waste Paper Co Ltd, Michael said: “This is an ideal business for Swanley and Sevenoaks. The company has fitted out its new depot with state of the art equipment and now it is able to recycle up to 250,000 tonnes of paper, cans, plastic and glass each year.

“The site is in an excellent position at the Teardrop Centre, Swanley, close to junctions with the M20 and M25 and will bring a reduction in carbon miles. The facility will be able to collect and process many different types of recycling materials from local authorities and businesses across the south of England.”
